Dearest reader,
Over the last few years, more than a few of you have said some version of:
‘I love your videos… I just wish there were more of them, and that they were all in one place.’
You also said something else:
‘Please don’t give me a huge, overwhelming course I’ll feel guilty about not finishing.’
So I’ve decided to do something in between.
In English, the word ordinary means ‘normal’ or ‘average’. But when you add a little Extra to the front of it, the meaning changes completely.
English Enjoyed Extra is the new members-only section of this publication designed to transform your English from ordinary to extraordinary.
Think of this as the ‘Director’s Cut’ of my lessons. Instead of a big, intimidating programme, it’s a small weekly ritual for people who enjoy their English as much as their novels.
Each week inside Extra, you’ll get
4-Weeks Early Access: See every new video a full month before it is released to the public.
Exclusive Show Notes & Quizzes: Every lesson comes with members-only programme notes and light quizzes so you don’t just watch—you actually remember and use what you’ve learnt.
Access to the comments: Ask all of your burning questions or confusions—I prioritise responding to you here.
Special Video Content: Go behind the lens with exclusive Q&A sessions and behind-the-scenes snippets from my filming travels.
A focus on elegant grammar, vocabulary, and formal expressions
The sort of English experience that feels as if Netflix and Duolingo had a baby.
Series Premiere: A Murder of Mistakes
This is my murder-mystery series that quietly teaches you English through 40 episodes—not lessons. A classic whodunnit, set in a rather splendid house and a rather dubious social circle.
Each instalment comes with notes and a short quiz to see what you’ve spotted.
All of this will arrive where you’re reading this now: in your inbox (or in the Substack app if you prefer).
The Great Expectations Experience
I am also thrilled to include my full audio narration of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.
You can listen to this epic tale chapter by chapter. Each instalment is accompanied by exclusive literary vocabulary hand-selected for you—the kind of sophisticated, evocative language that standard textbooks simply don’t touch.
A Murder of Mistakes gives you a modern mystery. Great Expectations gives you a timeless one.
What about the free emails?
Those stay.
You’ll still receive:
The occasional publication,
plus updates about books, live events, and other projects.
English Enjoyed Extra is simply for those of you who would like more structure, more episodes, and gentle accountability, without anything too heavy.

If you’ve ever wished for a way to keep your English moving forwards—a little more polished, a little more precise, and occasionally a little more outrageous—I’d love to welcome you inside.
Thank you, as always, for reading.
Thomas
